Zoe Howarth, Textile Designer and Jewellery Maker

"With a background in Textile design having studied at both London College of Fashion and Falmouth University I curiously find myself designing jewellery.

After finishing my degree I exhibited at many national events including New Designers in Islington, The Devon Guild of Craftsman in Bovey Tracey, The Mall Galleries in London, The Contemporary Textile Fair in Teddington and The Cornwall Design Fair in Penzance.

I have always been dedicated to my work and have followed my meandering creative path through the realms of hand weaving, hand dying, natural dyes, printing and onwards to painting and silversmithing. This path has never been linear and whilst juggling family life I have always stayed true to my passions and let that guide me forward.

I absolutely love the alchemy of creating something unique out of raw materials. To put my own personality and stamp on every piece I make really fues my passion as a designer-maker. With over 8 years of designing experience I love to be in the creative flow of capturing inspiration and transforming an idea into a beautiful handmade piece.

I love Cornwall and the historic harbour in Porthleven is one of my favourite places. I often wonder around the harbour taking photos of the boats and sea whilst the fishermen work on their vessels. I use these photographs as the inspiration for both the colours and textures used in my work, capturing the movement of the tides and the beautiful patterns in the rocks."
